Mike Ward is currently VP Wells for Shell’s Conventional Oil & Gas Line of Business, covering a diverse portfolio across many countries with both operated and non-operated ventures. He has spent 30 years in and around the Wells business, starting as an Assistant Driller in the jungle of Gabon, as well as working in HPHT development in the North Sea, exploration offshore in Vietnam, Brownfield development and abandonment of 90-year-old wells in Brunei and management of Shell UK’s North Sea and Irish well operations.

Mike spent several years as Head of Contracts in Brunei Shell and Global Category Manager for Rigs in Rijswijk. More recently, he spent five years as VP Gas Factory for Arrow Energy in Queensland, Australia, where he managed land access, water, and environment as well as delivery of all the wells civil, drilling and workover scope. As GM Well Ops Australia, he managed both East and West coasts of Australia.

Throughout his career, he has focused on performance delivery by looking at a manufacturing model in which production control principles enable transparency, consistency and synchronization of key delivery processes from end to end.
