Opening Remarks

Overview

The Project Production Institute’s 3rd Annual Technical Conference addresses the industry’s unprecedented challenges as AI-driven infrastructure demands create a $12-15 trillion capital spending surge over five years, while critical shortages of skilled labor, engineers, and equipment materials intensify with lead times extending to 5-7 years for essential components like gas turbines. The conference emphasizes that achieving “more with less” through Project Production Management has become essential for meeting societal infrastructure demands, requiring continued research and development beyond current knowledge. PPI’s comprehensive R&D program operates through partnerships with Stanford University and UC Berkeley, focusing on three core areas: expanding production management theory, developing models for real-world applications like field development and data center construction, and advancing control systems for production optimization, with research results disseminated through technical conferences and industry channels.
